Manna keeps what it remembers on your phone. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
Manna is made by Brighten Studios. This page says what the app keeps, and the few things that leave your phone and why.
On your phone
Your translation, where you are reading, the last place read in each book, the verses you keep, the days you have read, your journeys, your recent searches, your reading settings and your reminders are stored on your phone and nowhere else. We never see them. Deleting the app deletes them.
Reminders are scheduled by your phone. They are not sent from a server.
What leaves your phone
Listening. When you play Bob Hays's reading of the Berean Standard Bible, the recording of the chapter streams from openbible.com, the publisher's own copy. That server receives an ordinary request for a public file, as it would from a web page: your phone's IP address and the file asked for. Nothing else is sent with it: no identifier and nothing about your reading. The other translations are read aloud by your phone's own voice, on your phone.
Requesting a translation. If you tap to request a translation Manna does not offer, the app sends the translation's short name (for example "NIV"), the time, and a random identifier created by the app for your phone, so that each phone is counted once. The identifier is not linked to you, to an account or to your device's own identifiers, and it is used only to count requests. The request is stored with our database provider, Supabase. If it cannot be sent, the app opens an email instead, which you see and send yourself.
App updates. When it opens, the app asks Expo's update service whether a newer version of Manna is available. That request carries the app's version and a random identifier the update system creates for the installation, and nothing about you or your reading.
Writing to us. If you email us, from the app or otherwise, we receive what you send and your email address, and use them only to reply. Emails written from the app end with the app's version and your iOS version, which you can see before you send.
Manna Plus
Manna Plus is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment and your Apple Account, under Apple's privacy policy. To know whether Plus is on, Manna asks your phone's own record of the subscription, which Apple signs. Nothing about the purchase, or about you, comes to us.
Children
Manna does not collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If what Manna does with information changes, this page will change first, with a new date at the top.
